WANO Chief To Address First Conference Cycle

The managing director of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), George Felgate, will focus on the way forward for the nuclear energy industry after the Fukushima-Daiichi accident, when he addresses the inaugural ENELA Conference Cycle (ECC).

Mr Felgate, who joined WANO chairman Laurent Stricker on a visit to the Japanese plant and its immediate surroundings last week, will deliver his lecture in the third seminar of the ECC programme, which is dedicated to the topic: 'Putting Severe Accidents Into Perspective. Learning From The Past, Preparing For The Future Of Nuclear Energy'.

The first seminar will be held on 9 & 10 February 2012 and the registration deadline is 31 January.

ECC, in collaboration with the European Nuclear Safety Training and Tutoring Institute, is designed for nuclear and non-nuclear executives, opinion leaders and policy-makers. The programme comprises a total of three two-day seminars held at ENELA’s training and leadership centre in Munich, Germany.

A number of distinguished international figures are taking part in the programme, which will be co-chaired by Prof Akira Omoto, of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission, Peter Faross, of DDG Energy at the European Commission, Philippe Garderet, scientific vice-president, AREVA and Prof. Frank-Peter Weiß, chief executive officer of Germany’s Gesellschaft für Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS).
